Stuart White Director of Photography
The last day of filming could not come quick enough for DoP Stuart White. Not for any reason relating to the back-breaking, hot, cramped, perpetual work days of Detective Story but purely because a three-week holiday in Thailand was waiting for him literally the morning after. And after four hours of restless sleep and an eleven hour flight to Bangkok, a plate of Massaman curry the size of Hampshire and a cauldron of chilled lager was the perfect release from the horrors that had just befallen him.

Stuart lives in London and works as both a DoP and as a freelance portrait & fashion photographer. After spending five years as an assistant to various respected photographers, he himself started to be published by established clients such as British Vogue, The Scotsman and The Independent. His interest in both imagery and societal nuances led him to start experimenting with moving image documentary films, the compositions and shooting style of which attracted slight praise and a move toward more DoP work was pursued with a defined vigour.
Detective Story is one of nine independent films Stuart has worked on over the last two years and helped in him being asked to shoot his first feature film with David Morriseey in the late Summer of 2007. A first website of photography & film work will soon be online this year at www.stuartnicholaswhite.com
